Medical Secretary/Practice Administrator

We are now recruiting an experienced Medical Secretary/Practice Administrator to join our
busy GP Practice.

This is an essential front-line role at the Practice, providing an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to the practice management team.

The role will include medical secretarial duties, scanning, coding, summarising, registrations, IT support, audit and other general practice administration activities. You will be an experienced medical secretary and administrator and have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong audio and touch-typing skills
  • Administrative experience and good organisation skills
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficiency in the MS Office as well as excellent IT skills and experience of working with a clinical system – preferably SystmOne
  • Experience in read-coding and work-flowing clinical documentation
  • Ability to think on your feet
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach
  • Ability to understand the need to maintain confidentiality and data security at all times
  • Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure
  • Ability to work in a team as well as being comfortable working independently.

The position can be very demanding and fast moving at times so an ability to learn new skills quickly and easily and prioritise workload are essential skills. Common sense and a good sense of humour are essential.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday circa 25 hours per week (exact days and hours to be
agreed)

Rate of Pay: Up to £10.50 per hour dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Medical Receptionist (part-time)

Sollershott Surgery, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire SG6 3JW

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and customer-service-orientated Medical Receptionist to join our Reception Team in our friendly yet busy GP Practice with a patient list size of circa 5,200.

Applicants must be computer literate, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have experience of working within a customer or patient- facing role. Attention to detail and confidentiality are essential at all times. The post holders will be based in Reception dealing with patients and their queries, issuing prescriptions, answering the telephone, inputting data, registering new patients, supporting their clinical, managerial and administrative colleagues and undertaking other general reception duties. The position can be very demanding and fast moving at times so an ability to learn new skills quickly and easily and prioritise workload are essential skills. Common sense and a good sense of humour are essential.

Previous experience of General Practice reception work and the SystmOne clinical IT software is advantageous but not essential.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday up to 30 hours per week (exact days and hours to be agreed)

Extended Access Service – Bank Receptionists

Are you seeking flexible working hours on enhanced rates of pay? If so, then joining our pool of administrative bank staff may be the perfect option for you.

We are looking to recruit friendly, experienced and enthusiastic Receptionists with good organisation and communication skills to join our pool of bank staff working for the GP Extended Access Service based at our HUB-site of Sollershott Surgery, Letchworth Garden City.

A good telephone and face-to-face manner is essential. Previous experience of health service reception work and the SystmOne clinical IT software are advantageous. Attention to detail and confidentiality are essential at all times.

The post involves communication with patients, local GP surgeries, hospitals and colleagues to maintain an efficient and smooth-running service which operates 365 days per year.

  • A range of shifts are available Monday – Sunday plus Bank Holiday
  • Shifts can be booked on an adhoc basis, i.e. you do not have to commit to the same shifts each week
  • Competitive enhanced fixed rates of pay for unsocial working hours (available upon request)
